| How Can I Prevent Pop-Up Ads? | Ask Our Geek! | Should You Upgrade to Win XP? | March 07, 2003 Looking for a great way to stop annoying and offensive pop-up ads? Check out this article by Microsoft! Prevent Pop-Up Ad Windows! December 23, 2002 Please send your computer questions to: lindsay@tcrose.com! February 14, 2002 People are often hesitant about upgrading to the latest versions of Windows. Here are a few reasons why you may not need to upgrade… Do not upgrade if: Your programs are running fine. Win 98 SE and Win ME are competent platforms from which you can launch most “average user” applications (games, the internet, productivity items). As long as your operating system is supporting your needs, you do not need to upgrade. It costs too much. The upgrade version of Win XP Home is $99, while Win XP Pro is $199. While the pricing is reasonable (to some extent), the inconvenience of installation is not. You not only have to sync your old software to the operating system, but you have to learn the new interface as well. This causes a sever loss of productivity. Your computer can’t handle it. Often older computers (those still running Win 98 SE) simply cannot handle an upgrade. The demands of Win XP may be to grade, and cause less productivity and more problems after installation. |
